Nikil Shyamsunder

Hometown: Winchester, VA

Majors: Computer Science, Environment & Sustainability

Activities and Societies: I have a deep desire to uncover the intricacies of our beautiful home: Planet Earth. There is a certain elegance to the hunting strategies of hammerhead sharks and the symbiotic relationship between mycorrhizae and plant roots. Driven to make a change, I've worked on a number of research projects harnessing AI in fields such as geoscience and I hope to use the wealth of resources within the Milstein program to understand these complex ecological processes and use technology to conserve ecosystems.

I won the Virginia state championship in Lincoln-Douglas debate, so I have a passion for rhetoric as well as philosophy. At Cornell, I hope to explore the ethics of technology and the relationship between humanity and the natural world. Through connecting the humanities with technology at Cornell, I want to innovate for social good.
