The Milstein Program selects twenty-five extraordinary first year undergraduates each year to develop a cross-disciplinary cohort, trained in intersectional thinking, dynamic collaboration, and emergent technology. The Program offers a supportive community of engaged learners, speaker series along with core courses, unique short courses, mentorship, career development, and funded research opportunities, including an 8 week immersive experience at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt Island. As the new Milstein Faculty Fellow in the Milstein Program in Technology & Humanity, Adam T. Smith co-developed a new course exploring how the latest technologies are reshaping cultural preservation.

Students in the Milstein Program have the options to join the summer program at Cornell Tech on Roosevelt island the summer between their first-year and sophomore year.
The Milstein Summer Program at Cornell Tech is designed to be an immersive and collaborative learning experience, bridging the technological and humanistic understandings of our world through a series of mentored workshops, guest seminars, group projects, innovation challenges, and real-world engagements in New York City. Over the course of 8-weeks, students develop a situated appreciation for technological innovation, as well as the human context in which it unfolds.
As a student in the Milstein Program, you understand that you’ll need a diverse set of skills to tackle today’s most challenging issues. You might love studying philosophy, capital markets or Chinese, but you’re also fascinated with technology and data and can see the intersections between all of your interests.

During the course of their four years in the Program, Milstein Program Scholars learn how to collaborate, design, scope and iterate team projects rooted in the theme of innovation and change. In the First-year Project, students are introduced to small team projects they choose or propose. The Milstein Program experience culminates in the year-long Junior Project.
