Pose Tracking Paper Wasps

Research Question:

How can we apply machine learning to analyze social behavior among paper wasps?

Project Summary:

The ultimate goal is to train SLEAP (a program for animal pose tracking) to recognize different patterns of behavior in paper wasps and create simulated videos of those behaviors using Blender. These videos serve as a control that we can then show to multiple paper wasps and track their reactions. I will be working with Lorenz Mammen, a PhD student working within Michael Sheehan’s lab in Cornell Biological Sciences.
