Current Cornell A&S First-year Students

Current A&S first-years can apply to the Milstein Program by filling out the online application form (you must log in with Duo/two-step login) by December 31st. In the application you will authorize the committee to review your first semester grades and will submit a short essay and video.

The director and faculty selection committee will review applicants’ admission materials and first semester Cornell transcripts in the weeks following the deadline.

Only applicants accepted to the program will be notified during the winter break of your first year at Cornell.

Accepted students will need to enroll in the First Year Project (AS 1111) & MStudio (AS 3113) during the Add/Drop period. In Spring 2025, the required first-year course is STS 3940 AI & Storytelling (instead of AS 1111). Make sure that AI & Storytelling fits in your schedule before applying.

High school seniors applying to Cornell

High school seniors who would like to be considered for the program should identify their interest by checking the Milstein Program box ☑ on the Common App when filling out their application for Cornell.

After checking the interest box, applicants should use the supplemental College of Arts and Sciences essay to explain how they are a good fit with the Milstein Program (along with a good fit for the College).

The director and selection committee will review application materials and a select group of applicants will be contacted in March and invited to submit a video essay.

Only those who make it to the second round video stage will be notified in the Spring.
