As a creative writer turned technologist, I’m deeply passionate about the intersection of computer science and human language(s). Languages, beyond acting as mediums of communication, also serve as repositories of cultural knowledge. When a language goes extinct, so does an entire community’s history.

Through the Milstein Program, I aim to integrate my interests in French studies, computational linguistics, and computer science to study how AI might be used to digitize endangered regional languages within France—specifically, languages without a standard written form. I intend to focus on Niçois, a dialect of the severely endangered Occitan language, spoken in parts of southern France, Monaco, and Italy. Having previously studied abroad in France and having lived with a Niçois-speaking family, I’ve seen firsthand the devastating effects of language loss. As a Milstein Scholar, I seek to build technology that tackles this issue at its core.

In my spare time, I enjoy writing poetry, learning new languages, thrifting, and sampling new energy drink flavors.
