Hometown: Hastings on Hudson, NY

Anticipated Majors: Music, Physics

Anticipated Minor: Materials Science

The Milsten Program will be the perfect springboard for me to pursue interdisciplinary endeavors. As a prospective music and physics double major, I hope to engage in projects that perpetuate the well-being of society through technology's powerful influence. In high school, I did research on how 2D materials – specifically MXene with layered polymers – can be used to optimize energy storage; I wondered how these materials can simultaneously support the climate, encourage more profound human-machine interactions, and also simply be intriguing from a scientific perspective. At Cornell, I hope to do more research like this, such as developing a textile that I designed that can help soldiers and astronauts.

I have always committed myself fully to all of my passions, yet I always struggled with the impending feeling of having to choose which one to pursue. Now, I realize that there is no necessity for rejecting some interests for the sake of others; in fact, finding ways to blend academic fields is one of the most authentic ways to innovate.

Besides focusing on my academics, I love robotics, playing the violin, composing music, crocheting, reading, coding, and writing. I also love organizing community events, such as intergenerational cooking nights or robotics lessons for elementary schoolers!
