A Study on the Structure of Polarization and Pluralism

Research Question: When do cultural elements that structurally bridge interaction of people from distinct social groups afford conceptual bridging?

I plan to conduct a research project under the advising of professor Michael Macy. I will be reviewing theory related to structural and cultural bridging between social groups, selecting a domain and data of interest, and conduct statistical and network analysis on the found data. I will be using theories in cultural sociology, network science, and potentially social psychology to guide my research questions.
