At Cornell I am planning to major in government and minor in computer science. I believe that applied math goes hand in hand with politics because both fields can be boiled down to solving problems. Politicians seek to achieve policy ends, but without quantifiable evidence, it is often difficult to attain the desired outcome. Issues in today’s society are so complex with so many variables that gut instinct and good intentions alone will not necessarily result in attaining the intended goals. Data analysis as well as computer science can be used strategically to maximize meaningful change in our country and world. Immersing myself in the intersection of these disciplines is something that I am incredibly passionate about and that I am extremely excited to explore through the Milstein Program!
