H. A. A. T. - Seeing with Sound

Students in the project will work as a team with community partners Cornell Students with Disabilities, Finger Lakes Independence Center and mentor Virginia Rath to design a wearable product to help visually impaired people navigate their environment using the same technology employed in driverless cars.

The team will work to define the "need" and build a device that uses sound to represent the locations of nearby objects.

Team members will continue development including: IoT programming, iOS app development, integration over Bluetooth, constructing tests, and iterating on the prototypes.

Students in this project will utilize ethnographic interviewing skills to work with stakeholders to refine the “problem” and the ultimate solutions.
